"Sharknado" Touches Down in Orlando August 2nd

Posted By on Fri, Jul 26, 2013 at 3:00 PM

Watch the skies. SyFy's "hit film", Sharknado, featuring  Tara Reid, John Heard and a chainsaw wielding Ian Ziering, is getting set to become that rare beast: a made for tv film that gets a theatrical booking.

The film -- about an inexplicable series of torandoes loaded with sharks -- was a smash hit on Twitter, where fans played along with the film in real time, often not in nice ways. Asylum and SyFy is now looking to cash in on this odd phenomenon as much as possible by putting the film out in a few hundred Regal theaters for one night only on Friday, August 2nd at midnight. Will it be the next The Room? Only time will tell.

The film hits the following Orlando area theaters:

Orlando         Regal Pointe Orlando Stadium 20 & IMAX

Orlando         Regal Waterford Lakes Stadium 20 & IMAX

Port Orange Regal Pavilion Stadium 14

Winter Park Regal Winter Park Village Stadium 20
