Country, folk and bluegrass bands headline the Sunday Morning Coming Down Picnic Jam

Sunday, April 7 – The Sunday Morning Coming Down Picnic Jam

10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Mennello Museum of American Art

900 E. Princeton St.

We love the vintage country sets curated on Sunday Morning Coming Down, the defunct Real Radio show that eased slow starters back into the world of the living, smooth as satin sheets, and it seems we’re in for a special treat where that vibe will come back to life in Loch Haven Park. In the lovely setting of the Mennello, a Red Sovine-tinged teddy bear picnic jam is planned with a lineup as long as your arm of the area’s best country, folk and bluegrass bands covering country legends and doing originals. It’ll be a full day of outdoor family fun in the name of charity (Heartstrings Music), with kids’ activities, a karaoke dunk tank, a dog parade and picnic fixings provided by area food trucks. Everyone’s invited, even your dog, so why not be neighborly and join in the good-natured goings-on, cuz “there’s nothing short of dying” that would keep us from coming down. – Ashley Belanger
