Shake it up at the Courtesy Bar's Cocktail Class

Posted By on Fri, Mar 1, 2013 at 11:31 AM

Saturday, March 2 – Cocktail Class

5:30-7 p.m.

The Courtesy Bar

114 N. Orange Ave.

$20, plus you pay for your three cocktails

We’re not talking about those liquor-and-a-mixer type drinks here. The team of mixologists behind the Courtesy Bar, a craft-cocktail gem along North Orange Avenue in downtown Orlando, shake and stir up some of the most creative alcoholic concoctions we’ve found in the city. They even put their own twist (sometimes literally) on the classics: You might find brandy-soaked cherries in your Manhattan or a house-made jalapeño pickle garnishing your Betty Ford Bloody Mary. And because tasting only goes so far, the bar’s semimonthly cocktail class gives patrons a shot at becoming the bartender for a night, while learning the history and the techniques that go into making three different handcrafted cocktails – the Old Fashioned, Martinez and Sailor Mule. Get ready to shake, muddle and pour, and then enjoy a few rounds after your labor. And because nobody likes drinking alone, word to the wise: If you can gather six or more friends, the bar offers group discount deals. – Aimee Vitek
