Thursday, Feb. 28 – Blueprint

with AmiAm, E-Turn, DJ Cub

10 p.m.

37 W. Pine St.

Hard work and hip-hop go hand in hand, and few prove that more consistently than Ohio rapper Blueprint. Anyone who fell hard for RJD2’s Dead Ringer in 2002 (and we know that was a lot of you because the last time RJD2 came through town he performed to a full house at the Social) will remember well the track “Final Frontier.” This could likely have been your first exposure to Blueprint, who raps on the track, but he’s also put out an inspiring amount of fan-loved solo albums since then, on top of collaborating on two separate projects, Soul Position and the Greenhouse Effect. His clever lines crack an easy smile, but his lyrics are evocative, too – just listen to “So Alive” for an example. What’s more, we’re told the Blueprint show will also serve as a soft release party for a new illustrated book from Black Gallery, aka Solillaquists of Sound patriarch Swamburger. – Ashley Belanger
