Sunday, Jan. 27 – Paul Baribeau

9 p.m.

Stardust Video & Coffee

1842 E. Winter Park Road

With the rampant oversharing that happens on social media, it’s rare that much of actual interest occurs in our various feeds, and yet we continue to keep on reading, refreshing and refreshing, waiting for anything to come along that reads as, well, refreshing. Paul Baribeau’s folky punk is exactly like listening to your most interesting Facebook friend reading only his most honest status updates, over simple, easy melodies. His lyrics are so sincere, they cut directly to the heart, and it makes us wish we were in a relationship with him, and it was complicated, just to be a part of the open discourse. There really isn’t a more perfect venue for his music, either, than the eclectic backdrop of the Stardust main room, where surely many burdened minds have met to have the sort of discussions and share the boring secrets that Baribeau’s lyrics present almost as pastiche. – Ashley Belanger
