“The quicker you’re here, the faster you go,” are lyrics from “Work Hard, Play Hard,” Wiz Khalifa’s first single released earlier this year to promote his fourth album, O.N.I.F.C. But they are also pretty telling of how omnipresent the rapper has become since last year’s black-and-yellow-fueled rise to becoming a household name. The song is maybe a predictable next step, or, if you want to be more optimistic, call it a smart follow-up. When you consider that he got his nickname as a child because he was a fast learner, it’s not surprising to see him sustain that popularity. But if you took the time to watch his most recent music video, “Remember You” (a collaboration with the Weeknd that features a richly disturbing cast of women), you’d find reason beyond the obvious to pay attention to not only this album (out Dec. 4) but also whatever quickly comes next. – Ashley Belanger
