It’s that special time of year again, when the weather gets nippy, the children frolic on the ice and cuddled by the fireplace is the best seat in the house. Oh, wait – we live in Florida! Humbug! Anyway, while it may not be Hallmark’s idyllic winter wonderland, Orlando is home to many merry festivities, and guaranteed to warm the hearts of even the Scroogiest in the crowd is the Orlando Phil’s Home for the Holidays concert event. Featuring Albert-George Schram, the Holiday Singers and the Florida Opera Theatre Chorus Youth Program Singers, both the afternoon and evening shows are packed with a sleigh full of holiday favorites and seasonal surprises. In the spirit of giving, of course, attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items to help restock the pantries at the Second Harvest Food Bank. After all, ’tis better to give than to receive. – Victor Ocasio
