Thursday, Nov. 8 – RAWawards Orlando Semifinals

8 p.m.

The Abbey

100 S. Eola Drive

$15-$20

Whip out that cocktail dress and throw those pinky fingers up, because the fourth annual RAWards showcase semifinals are this week in the O-Zone! This celebration of up-and-coming artists gives independent creatives in the fields of visual art, film, fashion, music, hair and makeup, photography, and performing art the opportunity to come together with audiences, display their work and – wait for it – implore you to vote for your favorites! It’s all the “fun” of the November election, disenfranchisement-free. Every year, RAW selects and spotlights artists from across the country, and the winners of the semifinals go on to compete nationally. Three local judges – Cindy LaFronz, Ron Legler and OW’s own Erin Sullivan – throw their two cents in, while the combined total of votes decides the winner of each category. Bottom line? It’s good company, it supports local artists and the Electoral College isn’t invited. Power to the patrons! – Victor Ocasio
