Dredd 3D -- Remember when beloved comics properties like Judge Dredd were turned over to slumming, uncaring stewards like Sylvester Stallone? Now they become fall-doldrum “star vehicles” for the likes of Karl Urban to sink their teeth into between voice-over sessions for Star Trek video games. Ah, progress. House at the End of the Street -- The mother-daughter team of Elisabeth Shue and Jennifer Lawrence move into a new town and become embroiled in the aftermath of a killing that once went on right next door. Despite the familiar-sounding title, the movie is not a remake of The Last House on the Left, The Cabin in the Woods, The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane or even The Shop Around the Corner. Trouble With the Curve -- An on-the-ropes baseball scout (Clint Eastwood) takes his daughter (Amy Adams) along on a trip to find new talent that could save his career. SPOILER ALERT: In the film’s hilarious climax, she falls and hits her head on a stadium seat, rendering her a vegetable and giving him two inanimate objects to argue with. (PG-13)
