Saturday, Aug. 25 – Taste of the Nation Orlando

6:45-10 p.m.

Orlando World Center Marriott

8701 World Center Drive

Finding it tough to justify laying down a Benjamin and a half for a night of eating and drinking? It’s easier to swallow knowing your noshing/boozing at Share Our Strength’s annual Taste of the Nation event benefits a good cause – oddly enough, ending childhood hunger. (One hundred percent of profits go to local orgs Coalition for the Homeless and Second Harvest Food Bank.) It’s a fancy-schmancy way to support the 17 million American children struggling with hunger as the evening brings together more than 35 of Orlando’s culinary elite (including restaurant gems like K Restaurant and Oviedo’s Sushi Pop), who will plate bite-sized dishes to sample (including Kogi beef tacos, elk stroganoff, lobster risotto and bubblegum sorbet). Also included in your ticket price are unlimited sips of wine, spirits and beer – even local craft brews from Orlando Brewing and Redlight Redlight. If you start feeling really generous, move on to the live auction, where you can donate even more by bidding on resort, sports games and wine vacation packages. – Aimee Vitek
