Notable Noise: This Week's Best Shows ["Stand Up With Jered" benefit, and some other stuff too]

I'm going to do things just a little bit differently this week, because I would like to focus your attention on one particular show. If you go to no other concert this week, you need to go to "Stand Up With Jered," a benefit concert to help pay for Jered Dowden's medical expenses. Jered was very critically injured in a car accident on July 27, and is facing many months of intense physical therapy. Because America is America, his insurance won't pay for all of the expenses that will be incurred by his hospitalization and rehabilitation. I know, I know, this happens every day to lots of people because our healthcare system is supremely fucked up. But the reason that Jered is (at least) deserving of the $7 cover being asked for this show is because, even though he's young, he's already made himself an integral and active part of our city's music scene, not only getting Relief In Abstract Records off the ground, but also doing the hard work of organizing and promoting shows that reflect the wonderful charms of some of Orlando's more offbeat electronic experimentalists. This kid is the real deal, and, even though you may not dig electronic music, there's no denying that he's fighting a good fight when it comes to championing brave and interesting artists. He deserves your support. The show is Wednesday at Will's, and will feature XXYYXX, Saskatchewan, Out Go the Lights, Fortune Howl, Marble, and GRANT. Again, it's seven freaking dollars. And hell, if you can't make the show, maybe you could peel off a few bills and just donate them to the cause directly? Just do it.

Here's what else is going on:
