Tennessee’s Matt Woods brings some country to Will's Pub

Thursday, Aug. 2 – Matt Woods

with Have Gun Will Travel, Six Time Losers

8 p.m.

Will's Pub

1042 N. Mills Ave.

Don’t let our bullshit country music stations fool you – the Orlando underground loves its twang hard and honest. And Tennessee’s Matt Woods is one of the more noteworthy practitioners to frequent the city. But a bigger reason to salute and support this guy is his ties to our local music community. Local drummer Larry Fulford (the Sweetkisses, the Nine Volts) has been one of his longtime stagemates for a while, but this time, Woods has formed a complete band comprised entirely of Orlando players. With Fulford, Sean Holcomb (the Sweetkisses, the Holcomb Brothers) and Ben Thacker on board, this crew will give full-band arrangement to Woods’ songs for a select few Florida cities, something he’s only done up in his native Knoxville. And after you add in exceptional Tampa Americana band Have Gun Will Travel, well, this one’s gonna be special. – Bao Le-Huu
