Not much to this event but exactly what’s promised, and luckily, what’s promised is pretty sweet. Local funk-soul brothers the Gerry Williams Band start things off with a set of originals and, later on, take the stage for a night of Stevie Wonder tunes. Throughout the night, DJ BMF spins classic Motown sounds. All of this sounds to our ears like the makings of a groovy theme night: Bowties required, ladies get in free, but only in groups of 3-4 and the pretty one gets two-for-one drinks all night? A karaoke contest in which the winner gets to marry one of Berry Gordy’s great-granddaughters? Just spitballing here, people. A night of Wonder means a night of joy and togetherness. Just remember: The first person to shout a request for “I Just Called to Say I Love You” gets adopted by the DeBarges. Shudder. – Justin Strout
