Sunday, June 10 – Central Florida Sounds of Freedom 3 p.m. Margeson Theater Lowndes Shakespeare Center 812 E. Rollins St. free, donations accepted

Orlando’s own LGBT and ally marching band and color guard, Central Florida Sounds of Freedom take the stage this Sunday in their first performance as a concert band. Stars and Stripes and All That Jazz covers tunes from classic favorites like Chicago, and also features guest appearances by the South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble of Fort Lauderdale, along with Sound’s color guard. A special Somewhere Over the Rainbow spot will be played in memory of former Sounds saxophonist Bob Imlah, who passed away recently. Sounds of Freedom have grown tremendously since their debut performance in October of last year with roughly 30 members; tonight’s showcase will highlight the current 53-member ensemble. Juan Canasi, co-founder and president of Sounds of Freedom, says he’s hoping to fill the 300-seat venue, so if you want a seat, we suggest arriving early. – Eleanor Roy
