 Saturday, May 26 – Apparitioners

with Roadkill Ghost Choir, Heather Lee & Jordan Wynn (with band)

8 p.m.

Will's Pub

1042 N. Mills Ave.

We speak from experience when we say there isn’t a less rock & roll mind space than the birth of a baby girl. The daddy-daughter bond is historically mighty, it’s true, and the swaddled sapling may yet grow into a stately headbanger, but as local duo Jordan Wynn and Heather Lee know by now, it’s all hushed whispers and a claustrophobic amount of pink. So chalk it up to a piece of sanity that the new parents are storming back onto the music scene only a couple months after the arrival of their second child with the return of Apparitioners, Wynn’s previously back-burnered full-band rock project that, judging by the couple of songs released thus far, hungrily devours its classic, Southern-fried flavor, whereas his marital duo’s sound (opening tonight with full-band accompaniment) cooks slowly for extra soul. Wynn tells us Apparitioners are working on recordings with both Bob (on Blonde) Hershberger and DeLand super producer David Plakon, who is also producing the duo’s new album this summer. Asked for comment, baby Juniper crossed her arms and murmured, “They think so, huh?” – Justin Strout
