MUST-SEE SHOW: Hundred Waters [The Social] – This Gainesville group is blowing up in all the right ways – from an 8.1 review from Pitchfork to the most buzzed-about set of the many buzzed-about sets at the recent Orange You Glad fest. (Also, it must be mentioned that if you're a fan of Hundred Waters, you definitely need to check out member [and Levek associate] Trayer Tryon's solo stuff; it will blow your mind in all the ways that Hundred Waters soothes it.) The "Off the Avenue" session Hundred Waters recently filmed up in Deland is a little atypical of their awesomeness, but wow, it's still pretty amazing:

MUST-SEE SHOW: Rock 'n Roll Camp for Girls Benefit Show with Muffs Cover Band, Wet Nurse, Pillowfight, the Areolas [Uncle Lou's] - Fuck the War on Women. Let's start an army of a million punk rock girls who will go out and slaughter the pigs. Or, you know, just be totally kickass. The Muffs were/are one of the best power-pop bands of the last 25 years, and I can't think of a better way to honor that with a set of covers by a band featuring members of LARF and Teenage Softies, and proceeds at the door going to the Rock 'n' Roll Camp for Girls. In addition to the lady-punks in Wet Nurse and the Areolas, there's also gonna be a Mr T Experience cover set featuring "boys that couldn't stand to not be a part of this show, members of teenage softies, monikers, demoter, dear landlord, house boat, off with their heads, larf, big city bombers, the boyfriends.") This show is gonna be so great.

MUST-SEE SHOW: Heartless Bastards, These United States [The Social] – I can't say it any better than Bao. Read his interview with frontladybastard Erika Wennserstrom over here.

MUST-SEE SHOW: Local H, Bob on Blonde [Will's Pub] – Sure, it may be a little weird going to see Local H at Will's because ... wait, they did have an alt-rock hit, right? Well, whatever. They never should have. They're actually too good for that shit, managing to rock a two-man band vibe that's neither silly nor weak, with live shows that actually make you glad there's only two people on stage because with three or four dudes, this band would probably just be too goddamned rock 'n' roll for you to handle. Sorta like Bob on Blonde.

MUST-SEE SHOW: Poetry 'n Lotion performs Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are DEVO! [Will's Pub] – I've got some words on this show coming up in next week's paper, but it suffices to say that this Tampa-based instrumental crew will bring a pretty amazing take on this New Wave classic.

MUST-SEE SHOWThee Satisfaction [The Social] – My first listen to Thee Satisfaction's Awe Naturale album on Sub Pop was the sort of revelation one needs every now and then to remind you that hip-hop hasn't gotten dull ... just the hip-hop you're hearing has gotten dull. Weird structures, future-soul vocals, and devastatingly effective rhythms ... Awe Naturale demands your attention and rewards your focus with a wholly unique approach to modern hip-hop. And then, HOLY SHIT THERE'S THIS VIDEO THAT DREAM HAMPTON DID FOR THEM:

MUST-SEE SHOW: Southern Fried Sunday [Will's Pub] - CHICKEN AND WAFFLES. Yeah, I guess there's music too (Chopper Stepe, The Goldminers, the Holcomb Brothers Band, and Laney Jones), but there's CHICKEN AND WAFFLES.
