Hopslam Cask Tapping at Will's This Sunday!

Posted By on Sat, Apr 21, 2012 at 2:21 PM

Bell's Brewery out of Kalamazoo, MI is known for good products. Their Two-Hearted Pale Ale and Oberon Wheat Ale are nearly-flawless examples of their respective styles, perfectly suited for kicking back with friends and wishing the day adieu. Bell's Hopslam Ale, on the other hand, is a flaming sword of fruity and floral hops, most prominently the aggressively dry-hopped Simcoe hop (lending nostril-shredding whiffs of citrus and pine), balanced against a copper-colored malt backbone made of 2-row barley and honey. It's a steel-studded 10% ABV Double IPA designed to provoke deep thought and brass-knuckle fist fights.

The problem is that Bell's only makes it once a year, and in very tiny batches, so if anyone local manages to get their hands on a cask of this stuff, it's cause for a party. Tomorrow, April 22 at 5 p.m., Will's Pub is cracking open a firkin of the good stuff, and pairing it with fare from the Hard Wok Rock 'N Roll Food Truck (though the pairing is really at your own discretion - this is Will's. What are you expecting, a beer dinner?). Following up at 8 p.m. will be a show by Thee Wilt Chamberlain, Trails, Woolly Bushmen, and BILLY. So do what's right for your beer education and get out there to taste this face-puckering hop bliss, or you'll have to wait an entire year to even hope to get the chance again.
