Selection Reminder: Central Florida Earth Day tomorrow at Lake Eola!

Posted By on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 10:00 AM

Saturday, April 21 – Central Florida Earth Day

10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Lake Eola Park

101 N. Rosalind Ave.

So Rick Scott hates his own Mother Earth, our city’s tree of life burned to death, and our great state voted in a straw poll for a pizza magnate who considers the Environmental Protection Agency a “job-killer” before finally settling for Mitt Romney, who wants carbon dioxide to be freed from the shackles of regulations. Does that mean we put our heads down and walk away in shame? Maybe. Or maybe the green movement is most effective as an underdog scrapper, after all is said and done – and Orlando knows about some underdogs. This Earth Day, the city’s do-gooders will once again converge at Lake Eola Park for a day of activism and ideas, setting up “activity stations” where you can learn about composting, rainwater catchment, babywearing and other pretend verbs while enjoying music by the likes of SKIP, Jubal’s Kin and Chopper Stepe. Parents: Make time for the Earth Kids Zone for tot yoga, recycled puppet-making and a talk about The Lorax. Or, as parents will refer to it in whispers, “free babysitting.” – Justin Strout
