OK, so is this what all of those years of Survivor and Real World/Road Rules Challenge have diminished us to? Indeed, and it’s apparently awesome. Playing on the idea that every drunk Central Floridian has a bit of cracker (or zombie?) whipsmarts built in, the Savage Race dares the hyperactive and shameless to boot-camp their collective way through a series of 21 mud-covered obstacles around a 70-acre lake in pursuit of a dirty trophy, muddy underpants and a free beer. So it’s like hazing, only for Walking Dead extras. If you think the event sounds a little niche, you’re wrong. Last fall’s iteration of Savage Race attracted hundreds of undead athletes to what event organizers are calling “the most badass mud and obstacle race yet.” In fact, if you’re just hearing about it now, you’re too late to register. No worries. “If you’re afraid of extreme obstacles, fire, mud and bruises, DO NOT sign up for Savage Race.” You cannot be stopped. – Billy Manes
