The term “garage” has inherited a whole new connotation because of the current punk culture. But as recently as the early and mid-2000s, Orlando still had a hot little scene centered around traditional, ’60s-based garage rock. Remember the Hate Bombs, the Evidents, et al.? Well, then it’s all coming back to you now. Yes, this heritage was built on deeper indigenous roots than most realize. So polish those dancing shoes and dust off that party fez because the Delusionaires are reuniting for a one-time free show. As one of the most illustrious, colorful and distinctive acts of that ol’ crew, the Dels’ riotous sound is a highball of pulp, lounge lizardry and flame-licked, surf-heavy rock & roll. The livewire showmanship of frontman Aaron Jarvis always promises a sweaty affair. We’re told that drummer (and local miracle recovery) Brian Maguire may even make a cameo, so fingers crossed. Opening will be Jacksonville’s Thee Harmonious Fists (ex-Monarchy V). – Bao Le-Huu
