Monday, Jan. 9Ladies Nite: Quilting Fractals

Those of you who want to hate on the very idea of women doing needlework in the 21st century, please get over it. Not only have we evolved beyond the traditional gender roles that required women to do all the sewing, we are beyond the restrictive second-wave feminist ideology that prevented self-respecting women from having fun with fabric. (On the other hand, letting some people drink for free because they have innies instead of outies just might be a little outdated.) There will be a brief craftsy period in which the event organizers hope to get all the laydeez working together on a “fractal stitch” quilt, but with a free Terrapin keg (and free PBR or wine for those who like crafts, but not craft beers) from 8 to 10 p.m., we may be seeing fractals instead of sewing them. Oh yes

the feeling’s right. – Jessica Bryce Young (with Ylos Dospistoles, Wet Nurse; 8 p.m. at Will’s Pub, 1042 N. Mills Ave.; 407-898-5070; willspub.org; free)
