Saturday, Dec. 31Hot Mouth

As if the Stardust throwdown and Mills 50 hoedown isn’t enough local amazingness centered around something as innocuous as a dropping ball (the sagging of balls, of course, being the international symbol for advancing years), Greg “Stainboy” Reinel’s power-pop trio Hot Mouth are wisely getting ahead of 2012’s Russian and U.S. elections – the outcome of both could have major implications for international relations – and bringing the Cold War era back for one glorious night at the Copper Rocket. In addition to their anthemic originals, the guys will be rocking several sets of punk, glam and new wave classics “from Berlin, Bowie, Cheap Trick, the Godfathers, Rory Gallagher and the Jam to Joy Division, the New York Dolls, the Plimsouls, Roxy Music, the Runaways, the Saints, Sex Pistols, the Stooges and more,” according to Facebook. Mr. Reinel, tear down that ball. – Justin Strout (10 p.m. at Copper Rocket Pub, 106 Lake Ave., Maitland, 407-645-0069, copperrocketpub.com, free)
