Selection Reminder: Central Florida Community Arts' Joy to the World concert!

Posted on Thu, Dec 15, 2011 at 9:00 AM

Thursday-Friday, Dec. 15-16Joy to the World

Here’s your opportunity to preclude your traditional waxy-fingered giggle fits of a drunken Christmas Eve midnight service (Silent Night isn’t funny; too much wine is) with a trip up to pastor Joel Hunter’s Longwood global-warming mega-church to bathe in the harmonies of the 170-voice Central Florida Community Choir and 35 members of the Central Florida Community Orchestra. Sure, it will involve a lot of the standard holiday musical fare – like, say, Joy to the World – but there will also be a multi-culti angle, with non-American Christmas choons belted out in their native languages. Also, former Weekly mistress Lindsay Tabora will ostensibly be sweating (ha!) while she sings and pretends that she is somebody who belongs in a church. That’s worth the price of admission alone! – Billy Manes (7:30 p.m. at Northland Church Performing Arts Center, 530 Dog Track Road, Longwood; 407-474-7909;; $10)
