Universal Studios Orlando to close JAWS Jan 2nd! Blasphemy!

Apparently it is safe to go back into the water, at least at Universal Studios Theme Park.

The Baltimore Sun scooped the news that Uni will close down the whole Amity area on January 2nd for a "new attraction". Probably Sponge Bob related.

I think it's a stupid move. Most of Disney's rides are as old at the park it self (built in the 60s), but I guess I can't really complain since I haven't been on Jaws in well over a decade.

But damn. First King Kong, Nickelodeon Studios and the slime fountain, then Back to the Future the ride, and now Jaws. My many childhood summers spent at Universal Orlando are fading so quickly. Thank God for awkward family photographs standing front of them, eh?
