Friday, Oct. 14Eight From Florida

Continuing where this summer’s FLA.ART left off, the Mennello Museum celebrates Eight From Florida tonight with an opening party to show off the work of – yep – eight Floridian artists: paintings, sculptures and multimedia pieces by Jose Bedia, John Chamberlain, Dan Gunderson, Leslie Neu-mann, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Margaret Tolbert and Sandy Winters. The chance to see a Rauschenberg or a Rosenquist is attractive, of course, but we especially look forward to the unveiling of Thomas Thorspecken’s 48-foot mural. Go for the Pop Art masters, stay to pick out your friends (or yourself) in Thorspecken’s depiction of threescore Floridian art lovers waiting in line. Queue and not you? – Jessica Bryce Young (6-8 p.m. at Mennello Museum of American Art, 900 E. Princeton St.; $5; 407-246-4278; mennellomuseum.org)
