You wouldn’t think today’s alternative-minded comedy scene would have room for a veteran novelty-song purveyor whose big break more than 30 years ago came courtesy of radio star – radio star!Dr. Demento. And yet last year was one of Weird Al’s most productive yet, with a hugely popular Twitter feed, countless appearances on comedy podcasts, festival performances, the full-on Funny or Die treatment and a production deal with Warner Bros. to write and direct a feature film for Cartoon Network. This year: a children’s book (When I Grow Up) and a Billboard Top Ten album, Alpocalypse.
