After failing to bring down City of Orlando's website, hackers aim lower - much lower

Posted By on Tue, Jun 28, 2011 at 10:28 AM

Though Mayor Buddy Dyer has accused the group Orlando Food Not Bombs of orchestrating recent cyberattacks on the websites of the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce and Universal Studios, today’s events should serve as evidence that “Commander X” and his/her cohorts are likely not residents of Orlando, or even Florida, for that matter.

That’s because today the hacker collective set its sights on, a website that appears, by all measures, to be a hastily assembled eyesore of an advertising portal featuring mostly YouTube videos of famous artists performing at the Amway Center. Though the website is currently down due to the cyberattacks which started at 10:00 this morning, a look at a Google web cache of the site suggests that Anonymous needs to do some more research before it picks its targets.

(For more on Anonymous’ modus operandi, check out our interview with “Commander X” last week.)
