Monday, June 27S. Carey

The draw for this show, naturally, is that S. Carey is the drummer and backup vocalist for Bon Iver, but don’t go expecting Justin Vernon’s wintry, lonesome, woodland wail. Carey, as a solo artist, is very much his own man with his own evocative brand of lush wistfulness. If Vernon conjures images of vein-opening, vodka-soaked nights in an outdoor bathtub, Carey’s debut album, All We Grow, transports listeners to a sepia-toned beach where the only footprints are made by lovers’ walks as romance ebbs and flows with the tide. That it’s all built around Carey’s piano is all the more surprising and poises him to follow the path of fellow indie drummer J. Tillman (Fleet Foxes) to the solo promised land. – Justin Strout (with David Bazan; 8 p.m. at the Social, 54 N. Orange Ave.; $12-$14; 407-246-1419;
