Friday, June 10Nashville Pussy

If you idolize empowered riot grrrl-esque female role models, then you might want to skip this Selection. But if you love a hard rock guitar chick, then you have a hero in Nashville Pussy’s lead guitarist, Ruyter Suys, who’s been flaunting her bustier-and-leather- pants-clad body – and headbanging a crazy head of hair – since the band’s first album, 1998’s Let Them Eat Pussy. Her riff-tastic skills complement hubby Blaine Cartwright’s gritty vocals about drinking, driving, drugs and other topics entrenched in the canon of dirty Southern rock. A throwback to a simpler time, Nashville Pussy’s music is equal parts sex and rock & roll; they revel in being naughty and sleazy, but they bring the party to each and every show. Still touring on their 2009 release From Hell to Texas, you probably won’t hear anything new tonight, but you will have an excuse to get inebriated while rocking your face off. – Katie Westfall (with Koffin Kats, Hot Mouth; 7 p.m. at Firestone Live, 578 N. Orange Ave.; $10; 407-872-0066; firestonelive.net)
