HBO Reminder: How to Die in Oregon, tonight @ 8pm

Just a quick reminder that tonight on HBO is the premiere of Peter Richardson's How to Die in Oregon, the Grand Jury Prize for Documentaries winner at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

The film is about Oregon's "Death with Dignity Act", which allows for doctor assisted suicide for termanally ill patients in the state, and Washington State's attempt to adopt a similar law.

We haven't seen it yet, but going by reviews, the first scene gets the hard part out of the way and features the assisted suicide of a man dying with cancer before moving on to the story of Cody Curtis, a middle aged mom of two who is dying of liver cancer, so I suppose a warning is in order.

In the New York Times, Brooks Barnes reported that even the staff of HBO Documentaries had trouble getting through the harsh film.

The film airs at 8pm, or 11pm on HBO West.
