Sunday, May 22Destry

Did you know MySpace runs ads between songs on artist pages now? As pretty much the exclusive playground of musicians these days, the site is easy picking for criticism, but there’s something extra weird about the Carpenters-meets-Feist airiness of Boston indie-folk duo Destry being interrupted by a commercial spot for Home Depot. It’s not altogether out of place, however: Former Straylight Run singer Michelle DaRosa and Cassino instrumentalist Tyler Odom constructed their debut album, 2009’s It Goes On, (See where we’re going with this metaphor? There’s more!) out of collaborations with members of the Format, Taking Back Sunday and DaRosa and Odom’s respective former bands. The resulting project comes together in a more polished, elegantly crafted manner than their individual labors would suggest. (It’s been said that none of the musicians really played together during recording.) Also: something about musical home improvement. Nailed it! –Justin Strout (with Communipaw, Maria Capella, Nilsson Mandela; 9 p.m. at Will’s Pub, 1042 N. Mills Ave.; $6-$8; 407-898-5803;
