Orlando takes pension fund crown, rioting largely avoided

Posted By on Mon, Mar 14, 2011 at 7:22 PM

The city of Orlando made history in Huntington Beach, Calif. last night, bringing home the Small Public Plan of the Year crown at the Money Management Letter's 10th Annual Public Pension Awards. Curiously, the ceremony was not televised, nor covered by the Orlando Sentinel, nor even mentioned in a post victory press-release by the city itself. A source close to the reporter, possibly fictitious, guessed that news of the victory was delayed until the morning of a workday to stave off rioting back home.

The City Beautiful triumphed over Tulare County, Calif., and Fairfax County, Va., though victory margins are still not available as of press time.
