For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, the Oscar nominated documentary that chronicles the deployment of a platoon of American troops in one of the most dangerous places in the world, Korengal Valley in Afghanistan, will make its television debut on Wednesday night on the National Geographic channel, at 8pm.

The film, by journalists Sebastian Junger and Tim Hetherington, follows the soldiers to the edge of sanity, through firefights and ambushes and Operation Rock Avalanche, the operation where Staff Sergeant Sal Giunta became the first living Medal of Honor recipient since Vietnam (the film does not follow his platoon, but the filmmakers also made this 14 minute short feature about it), over a full year of deployment.
