Plaza Cinema goes (even more) Gutter tonight

First, let me congratulate you, dear reader, if you made it here OK. No, we won't give you a virus (despite what some disgruntled ex-girlfriends tell us). We were hacked a couple of days ago and Google says we have to warn people for days after it's been cleared. No worries. You're clean.

Secondly, you need to head downtown to the Plaza Cinema Cafe tonight â?? You know, the one where the parking garage elevator takes you out back next to the dumpster? Yeah, that one â?? for big, glossy, shiny, gloss-covered red carpet event.

The fuss is the premiere of a new film called Gutter King, written and directed by former UCF student and former Full Sail prof Keith Alan Morris.

IMDB describes it as "an urban coming-of-age fight drama about a tough street kid just released from the Juvenile Department of Corrections. His new foster father tries to channel the boy's rage into the world of amateur bare-knuckle brawling, but his jealous brother has other plans."

Us watching the trailer describe it as, "Good lord! Bloody guy's choking the other bloody guy with a big-ass chain!" Or something professional like that.

Gutter King was shot on Soderbergh's pet technology, the Sony RED, which was also used on District 9 and the upcoming The Lovely Bones.

The red carpet rolls out at 6:30 with limos and liquor, then the film screens back to back at 7:30 (sold out) and 9:30 p.m. (tix still available here)

See you there!
