Cattle Call: I wanna play Natalie Portman's tassels

Posted By on Mon, Jul 6, 2009 at 11:12 AM

The Greater Orlando Actor's Theatre, having not yet premiered their production of Reservoir Dogs (which, I believe is to be the first show at their new theater), are taking on the unbelievably sexy British play Closer by Patrick Marber. (Any story that can make me enjoy a Julia Roberts performance is doing something right.) I ask only that they don't show the back of Larry's head when Alice flashes him. If you've seen the movie, you know what I'm talking about.

Details via press release (emphasis added):

Greater Orlando Actors Theatre announces auditions for "Closer" by Patrick Marber. The show will run August 28-September 19, 2009 on Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00pm and Sundays at 7pm.

Roles available for 2 men and 2 women ages 20-40.

Auditions will be held Saturday July 11, 2009 from 12pm to 5pm and Wednesday July 15, 2009 from 7pm to 9:30pm at the Greater Orlando Actors Theatre, located at 669 Cherry St. Winter Park, FL 32789.

No appointment necessary. Please bring a headshot and resume. Actors will be asked to read from the script.

Character description and show synopsis:

* Anna is a photographer who specializes in portraits of strangers.

* Dan is an obituary writer struggling to become a novelist.

* Alice is an American stripper freshly arrived in London after a bad relationship.

* Larry is a dermatologist who finds love under the most unlikely of circumstances.

When their paths cross, it's a dizzying supernova of emotions, as Marber adroitly constructs various scenes out of their lives that pair them again and again in various permutations of passion, heartbreak, anger, sadness, vengeance, pleading, deception, and most importantly, brutal honesty.

A witty, romantic, and very dangerous love story about chance meetings, instant attractions, and casual betrayals, Closer is a critically acclaimed look at four strangers with one thing in common: each other.
