Cattle Call: Not you, your dog.

Remember when I told you all about the auditions for The Wizard of Oz at the IceHouse Theatre? There's a part left if you're interested ... and you don't talk and you're hairier than Robin Williams and you can lick you're own butt.

Toto is still open! (Of course, if you yourself fit the above description, I can introduce you to a few movie studios who would be interested in your talents.)

Details (emphasis added):

AUDITIONS FOR TOTO, too! Auditions for Dorothyâ??s dog, Toto, will be held on May 30th, 2009, 10am at Piglet's Pantry in downtown Mount Dora. Pigletâ??s Pantry, a dog bakery and specialty shop for pets, is located at 400 N. Donnelly Street at 4th Avenue.

No appointment is necessary to audition. The production begins rehearsals in mid-June and performances are July 17 - August 9, 2009, Thursdays-Sundays, for fifteen performances. Toto and his or her owner must be available to attend a number of specific rehearsal dates. A trained dog handler will handle Toto on performance days.

The dog in the classic movie was a Cairn terrier. The IceHouse is seeking a dog with a similar appeal, but he or she does not necessarily have to be a Cairn. Friendly dogs under 15 lbs will be judged for behavior, ability to follow commands and general lovability. (Editor's Note: How would you like to be told your dog simply wasn't lovable enough?) The dog must be comfortable when around new people; at rehearsals he or she will be surrounded by lots of noise, activity and distractions. The actress playing Dorothy will attend the auditions; so please bring your dog's favorite treats for her to offer as a reward. The dog's ability to sit and stay in Dorothy's basket would be a plus. The role of Toto may be shared by more than one dog, if necessary, in order to accommodate the long schedule involved in the production.

This musical adaptation of The Wizard of Oz is drawn directly from the 1939 MGM film and features all of the Academy-Award winning music by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg.
