Slacker registers, you can too!

Posted on Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 3:19 PM

Here's a little report from our self-described office slacker on waiting until the last possible day to register. Turns out, it's way less painful than going to the dentist! If he can do it, you can too.

Take it, Shan:

Iâ??ve faced the possible alienation of everyone I know and suffered the threat of being punched by my roommate if I didnâ??t follow through. A recorded message from Michelle Obama herself even called me Saturday to remind me about it. Yes, being the slacker that I am, I waited to the absolute last second to re-register to vote today and was amazed the the amount of people doing the exact same thing.

A team of people was directing traffic into the Board of Elections office on Kaley Street, the overflow parking was packed as potential voters were lined up inside the building. I have to think this is good for Obama. High registration numbers can translate into a lot young, first- time voters turning out at the polls, a key demographic for Democrats this year.

You still have time to get there if youâ??re still not registered. The process took me all but 2 minutes and they are open until 7 pm tonight. You have to be in it to win it after all.
