Turzi ' the group centered around French frontman/singer Romain Turzi ' aspires to a state of perpetual locomotion. Indeed, this debut chugga-chugga-chugs forward as unceasingly as the Krautrock inspiring it. Inky, rhythmic religiosity begets the keyboard orgasms on 'Alpes,â? and the furious drums on 'Are You Thinking About Jesus?â? put the lie to Romain's mumbled insistence that 'Jesus has no place on the dance floor.â? 'Aigleâ? bears down to push a daft Neu! choogle. Sheer panache and variations in tempo rescue A from the ripoff-artists dustbin, and it doesn't hurt that Romain's vocals, muttered asides in a variety of languages, register as one more instrument in the steaming, stamping churn. It comes across as something of a parallelism: Here is a man puzzling about the world around him while the world continues to insist on shoving him out of his reverie, disrupting his ruminations.
