Alpha Dog

Alpha Dog
Studio: Universal
WorkNameSort: Alpha Dog
Drenched in drugs, sex, and violence Alpha Dog spends nearly two hours exploring the countless stereotypes of the urban street genre. Writer/director Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook, Blow) tells this sordid story of suburbia gone awry: Johnny Truelove (Emile Hirsch) leads a gang of mischievous kids in a drug ring throughout suburban Los Angeles, but when another dealer (Ben Foster) tries to skip out on money owed, it's his brother (Anton Yelchin) who quickly becomes a hostage acting as ransom for the stolen money. Bruce Willis and Sharon Stone lend their star power to the film's young up-and-comers, which would hopefully translate to something worth watching. Sadly the actors can't save this film from its countless plot holes and predictability all of which stems from a mediocre screenplay. With a possibly interesting concept, it doesn't take long for Alpha Dog to digress into just another wannabe teenage gangster film.
