How to get censored by the Sentinel

Posted By on Tue, Apr 24, 2007 at 5:40 PM

It's easy, really.

Step No. 1: Know what you are talking about.

Step No. 2: Have an opinion that is different from that of the Sentinel's editorial board, a journalistic kangaroo court that will brook no dissent when it comes to making sure that the three community venues get built, and right now goddammit.

Step No. 3: Post your opinions on the Sentinel's readers' forums.

Step No. 4: Watch those posts disappear, just like Ray Kockentiet did! Here's Ray's e-mail complaining about it:

Subject: Topix forum

Hi guys:

Just thought that I would let you know something interesting. I have been posting on Topix/ Sentinel forum on stories concerning the community Venues. I added links to my Blog and links to public domain research concerning the Community Venues. I guess that is a big NO NO. Most of my posts are now gone.

Apparently, the Sentinel will not allow me to post a link to my blog or to outside sources supporting one's position. My best guess is it violates the terms of service 7v (see: http://www.topix.net/topix/terms) although I receive no income from the Blog.

Seems, censorship is alive and well at the Sentinel forums. That news group and discussion forum is very well managed! My guess is that it will die as people realize this. Might make and interesting story somewhere.

Best regards,

Ray Kockentiet
