When it comes to self-deprecating humor, it doesn't get much better than Hugh Grant. In this disarming romantic comedy, Grant is hilarious as Alex Fletcher, a former boy-band star who embraces his has-been-hood. Early in the film, Alex gets a chance to write a new song for Cora Corman, a hot young pop star. The problem is that he needs a lyricist ' which is where plant-waterer Sophie Fisher comes in. She's played by Drew Barrymore, who hasn't looked this adorable since E.T. Together, they make beautiful music. Written and directed by Marc Lawrence (Miss Congeniality), Music and Lyrics has fun supporting performances by Brad Garrett, Kristen Johnston and Campbell Scott. Keep an eye out for Haley Bennett as Cora, an amusingly impassive cupcake with a head full of frosting.
