When two beautiful, successful women ' one in London and one in L.A. ' get their hearts broken, they decide to swap homes for two weeks over Christmas and experience the other's country as a way to distract themselves from said heartbreak and the adulterous opposite sex. Brace yourselves ' they end up meeting the men of their dreams while on The Holiday. The women: Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet. The dreamy men: Jude Law and â?¦ Jack Black? Despite a sluggish and clunky 30-minute setup, the movie quickly transforms itself into one of the year's most engaging and successful romantic comedies, thanks in large part to Winslet's charm and the creative male leads ' Law against type (because who really buys this guy doesn't have 18 different STDs?) and anti-leading man Black. You'll find it hard to leave the theater not beaming, despite Diaz's utterly groan-worthy performance.
