Snoop's latest is billed as his first album to reach out to blacks and Latinos, Crips and Bloods, to fans of streetwise hip-hop and of commercial bilge. Joined by producers known (Dr. Dre, Pharrell, Timbaland) and unknown (1500, Nottz, Niggaracci), Calvin Broadus succeeds in creating a broadly diverse album that will please hard-core aficionados as well as those who wouldn't know PE from public education. Like most major hip-hop records these days, Snoop drags in friends to cover every angle, including Stevie Wonder (for a wretched retake of 'Have a Talk With Godâ?), The Game, B-Real and Nate Dogg, among others. Snoop goes practically hyphy on 'Intrology,â? complains about rappers 'using my flowâ? on 'Think About It,â? sings 'wipe the boogers out of my eyeâ? on 'Candyâ? and goes thug-crazy on 'Gangbangn 101.â? Like the Donald Trump of hip-hop, Snoop Dogg is a one-man show.
