Libyan Hit Squad

Death Metal in Jerusalem (Bony Orbit) When it comes to 'punk rockâ? in Orlando, there's either the kaleidoscopic clutch of bands firmly devoted to the punk ethos or the monochromatic tide of hacks that are doing pop's bidding. Seldom is there anything in between. With the animalism found on this fiery four-song salvo, Libyan Hit Squad definitely belongs to the former group. Jerusalem's rough and ragged styling merges the swirling harshness of early-'80s West Coast hardcore with the dirt and danger of '70s proto-punk in a way that makes them more memorable than most hardcore bands. From the twisting Dead Kennedys coil of 'The Witchâ? to the trashy rock & roll burn-up of 'The Sickness,â? it barges in rudely, trashes your living room and splits before the 13-minute mark is reached. Unfortunately, the Hit Squad's days are numbered, as they've recently declared that they're 'going on hiatus for an undetermined amount of time.â? But, hey, that was one awfully decent punk band.
