DJ Language unearths several lesser-knowns for this genre-spanning mix. The tracks that lend the most to the overall sunny and soul-heavy ambience of the mix are those that haven't registered under the rock snob blogosphere, like the Foreign Exchange's rich and colorful hip-hop/Motown meld. Language's skills were honed in NYC and West Coast residencies, and the Real Music for Real People mix is particularly appealing in a barrage of fine beats that are pushed up against each other toward the start of the comp. When the electric piano/strings-laden "War" from Nas gives way to the celebratory "Appreciate" from a jubilant-sounding Pete Rock & CL Smooth, it's as if the "evangelist" that Language calls himself in the liner notes peeks from behind the crates, flashing a knowledgeable grin.
