Movie: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

It's been a good two decades since I read Douglas' Adams satirical space opera, so I thankfully have only a dim recollection of the story elements this adaptation has been pronounced guilty of omitting and/or truncating. Unable for the life of me to remember who the drummer for Disaster Area was, I can just appreciate the movie on its own flawed-but-fun terms, noting how its slightly off-kilter storytelling rhythm doesn't seriously detract from the welcome injection of alien intelligence into a traditionally brain-dead summer landscape. Plus, you get to see Zooey Deschanel acting as adorable as ever and Sam Rockwell clowning it up as galactic president Zaphod Beeblebrox, whom he basically interprets as Dubya in the body of Vince Neil. On a particularly good day, I'd even suggest that the movie might be reason enough for you to give up your vigil for Revenge of the Sith. Especially if you're lined up outside the wrong theater.
