A year and a half ago, the guys in New Mexican Disaster Squad told me they'd love to play more Orlando shows. After all, they said, they're from Orlando. However, they haven't really kept up their end of the deal, since they've been too busy acting like a real punk band. You know: releasing records on national labels, touring, getting respect from people outside their ZIP code. Those assholes. This latest release finds them sharing disc space with an excellent San Francisco hardcore group. Both bands cram four songs each into a 15-minute-long CD. NMDS is continuing on their current sonic trajectory with four tracks that are even more aggressive and meatier-sounding than the already impressive wallop of their recent full-length, and they've finally committed to a version of Bad Brains' "F.V.K.," which shows up here as a complement to Western Addiction's cover of Naked Raygun's "Rat Patrol."
