Review - Howling ... It Grows and Grows!!!

Artist: The Catheters

Posted on Thu, May 13, 2004 at 4:00 AM

The Catheters' third album captures the Seattle band's allegiance to punk ruckus and '70s garage rock through a collection of stripped-down anthems fortified by scruffy vocals and a sustained level of adrenaline. Although the band's approach varies little from track to track, the energy and angst they unveil remain a constant, as do the volley of squealing guitars and old-school rock hooks that bombast listeners on tracks like "Ravenous Animal" or "Reaction." Luckily, few of the savior-of-rock-type bands have yet to cash in on what The Catheters are churning out, and albums like these suggest that Seattle's musical heyday didn't fade with a shotgun blast.
