Drummer/vocalist Indra Dunis conjures images of Karen O so well that at times it's difficult to tell one from the other. But things work best for this trio when Dunis takes the lead. "Go to Show" and "Disease" display the power contained in a mono-wail that's backed by dense guitar and synthesizer. The robotic call and responses occasionally undertaken with synth-man Eric Landmark are also a bit reminiscent of Talking Heads. They may work well incorporated into other songs, but amount to nothing more than filler when left to stand on their own. All too obvious comparisons aside, the band manages a unique sound through the assimilation of guitar into the synthesizer. Even with that, however, it seems clear that turning Dunis loose may be the secret to putting them into your mind.
