As far as a collaborative toss-off goes, "Error" isn't too shabby. Brett Gurewitz and Atticus Ross (Nine Inch Nails) decide to accelerate the disco-trash vibe permeating indie rock lately to create something they dub "electro-hardcore-punk." We all know that Alec Empire began exploring this wasteland nearly a decade ago, and Error only manages to dumb down the results. Yet this brief, five-song explosion is still a visceral thrill. Though Ross' programming is simplistic chaos and vocalist Gregg Puciato is just obnoxious, it's a full-bodied attack Error achieves, abandoning the sultry whomp that most indie electronicists go for in favor of some sort of digital splattercore.
